Requirements
For second
through fifth graders the very first rank every boy must earn is the
Bobcat. ( First graders = Tiger Cubs, Bobcat rank is the last item in
there hand book of Big Ideals to be completed for graduation to Wolf ).
The purpose of the Bobcat rank is to teach every new Cub Scout the
following items:

The Cub Scout gives goodwill.
The Cub Scout follows Akela.
Akela is a good leader.
Your father or mother is Akela.
In your pack, your Cubmaster is Akela.
Your den leader is Akela.
At school, your teacher is Akela.
The Cub Scout helps the Pack go.

Think of others in the pack.

You can have fun when you are a part of the pack.

front of every Cub Handbook. |
When a new Cub
Scout has learned these things, his parent approves his work and signs
his book. He is then eligible to receive his Bobcat badge at a pack
ceremony including his parent. He then continues on to his rated rank
according to age and school grade.
